Compact rain/sprinkler gauge, yet easy to read
Posted by Steve T on 20th Aug 2015
I teach residents in local communities the Univ of Florida guideline to apply 0.5 to 0.75 inches per irrigation application. Tuna cans are not accurate and regular rain gauges too tall and expensive. The 1.5 inch square ones are OK, but less accurate when near full, due to splashing. The taller 3-inch round tubes on the economy gauges are just right. Only minor complaint is that the lower 0.5 inch is covered by the support, but can be read by sliding the tube out. I will be purchasing these as give-aways to my students.
