Water use is energy use
Posted by on
With the temperature dropping and winter getting closer, you might be thinking more about your energy bill than your water use. Unfortunately, they're related, especially when you're using heated water. In other words, those relaxing showers cost you a lot more than you would think. Even if you don't pay for the water you use, you may still be wasting money on your heating bill because of the energy you use to heat the water.
Less hot water use also means less energy use.
Here is a graph from energy.gov:
On average, water heating accounts for 18% of home energy use. Compare that to only 5% on lighting! It's easy to notice someone has left a lamp on, but excessive water use is a bigger problem.
Our water saving shower heads, aerators, and other products aren't just water savers - they're also energy savers.
